Brief description:

Alzheimer Scotland is proud of the work we do to make sure nobody faces dementia alone. We provide advice and information, day opportunities, and community activities. Services include Carer Support, Dementia Advisors, Dementia Link Workers and our D-Cafes, a meeting place where people who have dementia can come together with their carers to meet others in similar situations for support and social contact.

People can access our service by contacting the office. It is an open referral system.

Day opportunities - Bungalow (wheelchair access). Services also provided to service users in their own home or out in the community.

Full service description:

Midlothian €“ services include: Day opportunities: 'The Bungalow' (every afternoon except Saturday and Sunday. 9/10 people per session - stimulation, orientation, craft activities, fun and laughter; transport provided; nutritious meal included in cost). Carer support €“ dedicated carer support worker to support carers 1:1 or in a group setting. D-Cafés: for people with dementia and their carers, Dalkeith - 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month + carer support group, Penicuik €“ 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month + carer support group, Roslin €“ every Monday. Dementia Advisor: provide information and advice; help the person with dementia, family and friends plan for the future; put people in touch with local sources of support; help to navigate the health and social care system; help to assert their rights and make choices€”and in so doing stay as well and independent as possible. Dementia Link Workers: Working to the 5 Pillar Model of dementia support, they provide up to 1 year of personalised, flexible input to people recently diagnosed with dementia. Referral via diagnosing consultant. East Lothian €“ services include: Dementia Advisor: provide information and advice; help the person with dementia, family and friends plan for the future; put people in touch with local sources of support; help to navigate the health and social care system; help to assert their rights and make choices€”and in so doing stay as well and independent as possible. Dementia Link Workers: Working to the 5 Pillar Model of dementia support, they provide up to 1 year of personalised, flexible input to people recently diagnosed with dementia. Referral via diagnosing consultant. D-Cafés: Musselburgh D-Café 1st Wednesday of the month + carer support group; Dunbar 1<sup>st</sup> Monday of the month + carer support group.
