Shared Care Scotland’s Lead Officer network is for local authority and health sector practitioners who have a lead responsibility for planning, commissioning or coordinating short breaks and respite care provision. The purpose of the network is to share good practice, develop new approaches, and to contribute to national policy developments.
Our February meeting will be in two parts. In the morning we will be joined by George Thomson, CEO of Volunteer Scotland, to explore what role volunteering can play in helping us to expand the choice and availability of short break opportunities. After lunch the focus will change to the Carers (Scotland) Bill with an update on progress and a more detailed look at the short breaks related aspects of the Bill, including the proposed local Short Break Statements. We will be joined by Moira Oliphant Head of Carers Policy at Scottish Government for this session. Coffee breaks and lunch will also provide the ideal opportunity to share what’s happening in your local area and find out what’s going on elsewhere.
