The Learning Exchange
Shared Care Scotland is a charity that works to see a Scotland where everyone who receives or provides unpaid care can live happy and fulfilled lives with the support they need to take regular, quality breaks from the demands of their caring situations.
As part of that we organise learning exchanges that are funded by the Short Breaks Fund in order to provide opportunities for the organisations in receipt of grant funding to share learning and good practice, and to inspire new ways of delivering and measuring successful short breaks.
Please note that these Learning Exchange events are for funded projects and priority will therefore be given to staff from projects that are currently being funded via the Short Breaks Fund. If there is additional space we may open courses/events to other people.
We will post all Learning Exchange events here, if you would like to be informed of events as they are advertised please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
The following events took place recently:
Making short breaks work for young carers

Date: 25th June 2013
Location: The Alliance Scotland, Venlaw Building, 349 Bath Street, Glasgow, G2 4AA
Who is it for? Projects that work directly with young carers; projects that provide advice and information to young carers; Time to Live projects that provide grants to young carers.
Content: This free workshop is aimed at organisations who are funded by the Short Breaks Fund and whose work involves young carers. The aim of the workshop is to share good practice and fresh ideas about:
- How do we reach young carers? What messages and approaches work well?
- Do we have all the allies that we need to reach young carers effectively? Do we need more help?
- What do we know about what young carers need and value from a short break? How do we know?
- What challenges do we need to be aware of?
- What difference do short breaks make to young carers? How do we know?
Cost: Free. We can offer a substantial contribution to the cost of travel and accommodation for colleagues from remote areas. If this is relevant to you please phone me, Alison Stevenson on 01383 622462 for information about how to claim this contribution.
