Carers Treated As Royalty!

Carers Treated Like Royalty – Thanks to Royal Collection Trust

Afternoon teaRoyal Collection Trust, who manage Palace of Holyrood and The Queen’s Gallery, helped Respitality by providing a stunning day out for carers and a companion. The day started with a costume handling session with examples of 16th century clothes and underclothes. We now know what a farthingale is, how to assemble a ruff and why a linen smock was so popular. After coffee and cake, Rosie gave us an interesting, fun and blood-curdling tour of the Palace of Holyrood. Many of us hadn’t been there for years and it was so enjoyable to have time to listen and sink into Scotland’s history. We were then treated to the wonderful paintings of the scientist, Maria Merian, who sailed off to South America with her daughter in 1699 to paint the lifecycle of moths, caterpillars and butterflies.Jo Neepa Gill

Exhausted (not quite) we then retired to the cafe where we were treated to the most sumptuous afternoon tea. Sandwiches,  scones, eclairs, tea and coffee finished off the day perfectly. We had a wonderful time. Thanks to Jo, Neepa, Rosie, the Cafe Staff and everyone else at Royal CollectioSmiling Sentryn Trust for making us so welcome. Looking forward to the next day out in September. Thanks again!
