This service provides respite for the carer of the older person as it allows them some time on their own to have a break from their caring role. We reduce the isolation and improve the well-being of carers by way of a visiting service for the older person they care for in their own homes or by assisting the carer and the person they care for to access local amenities or to participate in recreational activities in their community. The Carers Befriending Service is available to older people aged 60 plus who are being cared for by family members. Our organisation has been recognised as an Approved Provider by Befriending and Mentoring Scotland. As a Befriending Service, we are committed to working collectively with and to complement the services of other community groups, statutory and voluntary organisations.
