Full service description:

We can offer a break from day to day routines, a chance to experience new things, time to rest and recharge the batteries, opportunities to meet new people and maintain friendships and time for personal interests, leisure or social activities. Breaks can be a short stay in our accessible, two bedroomed flat in Stranraer town centre or a range of in-house and community options enabling families to take a break while supporting individuals to enjoy a positive experience. Our short breaks service will always put the individual using the service at the centre of their support plan; they along with their family will be supported using person centred approaches to meet their identified needs and stated outcomes. The staff team will be trained to meet the specific needs of each individual, however complex these may be. We will work with people to put in place a unique support plan, including risk assessments, these will be reviewed on an ongoing basis and will change depending on need. We can support careful transitions for young people who are beginning to use short breaks out with the children's services they may have used from a very young age. We recognise the importance of working with individuals, families and other professionals to make sure that moving from one stage in life to another is planned for and managed as smoothly as possible. We ensure that we listen carefully to the outcomes people want and work with them to find ways of making it happen.
