Brief description:

Countryview provides planned regular respite for children and young people from 5 years to 18 years who have a learning disability. The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate for six residential respite beds, one long term residential bed and one emergency bed in a purpose-built bungalow. The accommodation is fully accessible and offers single bedrooms, a multi-sensory room with tactile play equipment, lounge, shower room, bathroom, kitchen and a large child safe garden with play equipment and sensory garden.

Type of accommodation:

Countryview provides eight single bedrooms. The building is purpose-built for children/young people who have a learning disability and associated physical disabilites. There is a large sensory room equipped with a waterbed, bubble tubes and fibre optics. An enclosed garden provides swings, grassed area, and a mono blocked area for bicycles. and we have a sensory garden.

Cultural needs catered for:

Countryview can provide specific diets for cultural/physical needs - i.e.e-free, gluten-free, vegetarian. Staff are familiar with Makaton, board maker, and PEC's communication systems.

Full service description:

Countryview gives carers/families the opportunity to have short breaks from the stress of caring. The focus of the service is to offer children and young people the opportunity to extend their socialising skills and be with people of their own age and ability. They are involved in recreational activities such as outings, arts/crafts, and sensory development. Children and young people have a range of care needs from profound to mild disabilities. Staff are trained to support children with peg feeding, epilepsy, medical needs and challenging behaviour.
