Full service description:

The Outdoor Centre stands in a unique wilderness setting some five miles from the main road. It is situated along the south coast of the Ardmeanach Peninsula overlooking Loch Scridain to the Ross of Mull. During the summer evenings red deer, bats and owls are often to be seen. We provide two highly qualified outdoor instructors and a chef who provides good home cooking. The Roses Project was started in 1990, since then we have taken many on exciting multi activity courses on the Inner and Outer Hebridean Islands and the Highlands of Scotland. The programmes are fun, exhilarating and adventurous, but then again that is what outdoor activities are all about. After all, it is easier to learn when you are having fun. The golden rule is that everyone should go home happy. The range of activities include: abseiling, kayaking, camping, night line, canoeing, swimming, snorkelling, combined rock & water activities, orienteering, rock climbing, team building, gorge walking, boogie boarding, navigation tuition, gorge scrambling, hill & coastal walking, surfing. The courses usually start when the groups catch the ferry from Oban on Saturday afternoon and finish upon arrival back in Oban on the following Friday morning. Our risk assessments and operating procedures for "in scope" activities have been inspected, approved and licensed under the provisions of: The Activities Centres (Young Persons' Safety) Act 1995 and the Adventure Activity Licensing Regulations 1996. Specialised outdoor clothing and equipment are provided for groups of up to sixteen. We can design programmes to meet the required outcomes of a group. Pre and post residential work can also be delivered.

Any other information you think people might find helpful:

Comments made by Young Carers, Dalkeith: The time with you helped the Young People to bond as individuals and also build friendships that can span over different cultures and living experiences ....... Many thanks again, for the wonderful opportunity and warm and comfortable environment you have created to enable these children who have so little to have a moment all about themselves, having positive attention, fun, learning and someone else helping them to believe in themselves. Comments made by a Development Worker, Oban Young Carers: The training provided by the Roses Project was excellent. The input from the Roses staff was particularly important to the experience because it was much broader than just doing activities. All the young people on the course were able to participate in the planning of the activities. The opportunity to build the residential around the particular needs and aspirations of our group was very important. Comments made by North Argyll Young Carers: The instructors were absolutely wonderful and obviously it is not just a job, the way they interact and help motivate, as well as the heart and soul they put into their work. Working with young children and adults can be extremely challenging and your instructors showed that they were more than capable of the needs and wants of each individual as well as motivating them for team work.
