Welcome to our ‘In the Driving Seat’ conference webpage. Here you’ll find copies of most of the powerpoint presentations that were delivered by our keynote speakers and workshop hosts, plus links to other related resources. We hope this will be of interest to those of you who attended the event (over 160 of you!) and to others.
Our aim was to provide a stimulating, enjoyable and inspirational day. The excellent feedback from the day suggests we met these aims. However, we are not complacent and we have taken on board all your helpful suggestions and will use these to deliver an even better event next time. We’ll certainly reflect on the limited car parking which took us by surprise!
Many thanks go to our Chair, Sally Witcher, to our keynote speakers, workshop hosts and exhibitors for their excellent contributions. These were greatly appreciated.
Many of you told us that a highlight of the day was James McKillop’s inspiring presentation and his appeal to those responsible for commissioning and delivering short breaks to be imaginative and adventurous. James concluded his presentation by telling us that in a few weeks he would be given the opportunity of returning to the ‘driving seat’ (quite literally) for the first time in 12 years – with the help of Dementia Adventure. You’ll be pleased to hear this was a great success and James has thoughtfully sent us an account of his experience which we’re delighted to share with you here – see ‘Back in the Driving Seat’. Enjoy and be inspired!
