Supporting carers to access the right break for them
This toolkit is for those who support adult and young carers to access short breaks. It is designed to enable you to use specific elements at different times and in different situations on a ‘dip in and out’ basis. You may use and customise it as much or as little as you wish. The toolkit is structured around the four-stage support process outlined in Section 2 – Process.
Toolkit Training
We have also designed an online training course to support the delivery of the toolkit. For further information on the toolkit including how to take part in the training, please contact Alison Chapman by emailing alison.chapman@sharedcarescotland.com or by calling 01383 622462.
Feedback
“We have created a “My Break Toolkit”, simplifying your toolkit and tackling specifically what breaks would best suit the individual with activities and plans which support the individual in getting to their conclusion. This is inspired by the inspiring breaks toolkit.”
“Thank you for the training session, the information has changed the way I approach breaks with some of our young carers.”
“Bringing the conversation of breaks to an easier understood conversation, provides a clear pathway and provides a tool for consultation and information.”
