I’m Don, Chief Executive of Shared Care Scotland. I started here in January 2006, which feels like yesterday! Prior to this I was a Programme Director with Common Purpose, a leadership development charity, and before that I worked for the The Duke of Edinburgh's Award as their Deputy Director Scotland. I also had a spell as a civil servant working for Scottish Natural Heritage (now Nature Scot).
Our work at Shared Care Scotland can be challenging but ultimately fulfilling. I am very fortunate to work with an inspiring team of colleagues who are all dedicated to improving short breaks provision. It's more than a job of course; it's about making a positive change and finding ways to support carers, and those they care for, to live the lives they want.
When I'm not working, you'll likely find me outdoors, whether it's hillwalking, cycling, enjoying a ‘leisurely’ run, or more recently, braving the chill of open water swimming.
