Full service description:

Sited in Aberdeen amidst the beautiful surroundings of Deeside, the school offers the possibility to be fully integrated and included in the hustle and bustle of city life while providing its services in the tranquility of the countryside. Respite services are flexible and can include day, or part day care, and there is some provision for overnight stays. The School, inspired by Rudolf Steiner, recently celebrated its 75th anniversary and has been at the cutting edge of pedagogical development since its inception, when in the 1940s it became one of the first schools in the UK to offer formal education for children and young people with additional support needs. Today it remains at this cutting edge, offering a series of bespoke programmes in partnership with our stakeholders to meet the wide variety of needs that come towards it. Our young people can be seen exploring the Scottish mountains as part of their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award 4-day expedition, sitting their National 5 examinations, participating in the Student Council and Eco School Committee, cultivating vegetables in the garden, interacting with co-workers/staff children and their families who live on site, or playing in the woodland within a Nature Nurture or Forest School Group. The children and young people have a multitude of activities to choose from as they seek to build their resilience and confidence while striving to become active participating citizens of the world.
