You can access our nursing and residential care home service by self referral or via your general practitioner or social worker.

Type of accommodation:

Our accommodation is spacious and comfortable, intended to enable our professional nurses and care assistants to assist you with your individual care requirements as well as promote your independence. Our bedrooms are for single occupancy, however there are a selection of double rooms should you require one. Each of our rooms have en suite facilities, with wash hand basin and WC, a selection of our superior rooms also have shower, which are designed for people with restricted or no mobility. All rooms are linked to our nurse call system, so as to ensure your comfort and safety at all times. A passenger lift is available to all floors within our home.

Our service provision is based around meeting individual needs and preferences, our Head Chef and Assistant Cooks are experienced in providing meal options to suit all dietary requirements such as diabetic, vegetarian, cultural and texture modified. Regular worship services are conducted in house by local ministers of religion from various faith and belief systems.

Buccleuch Unit - Within walking distance of Hawick High Street and in the West End area of the town, Buccleuch House is a residential care home for older people. Now the original character and beauty of the building is a stunning backdrop for the care home which has 18 single bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. Buccleuch House has undergone recent extensive refurbishment and redecoration. Modern facilities ensure the safety and dignity of residents, whatever their individual needs. St. Margaret's Unit - St Margaret’s Nursing home in Hawick is in the West End area of the town within walking distance of the town centre. The building, and that of the nearby Buccleuch residential care home, was originally built as a Dominican Convent in the early 1900s. The large house became a nursing home for older people twenty years ago and St Margaret’s no longer has direct religious links.  The home’s 30 rooms all have en-suite bathroom facilities. Our aim at St Margaret’s is to create a homely atmosphere coupled with the security and specialist nursing requirements that individuals may have. We run a varied programme of activities for residents to join in with as and when they choose. Our regular visitors include musicians and entertainers and, for those who prefer peace and quiet, we have dedicated lounges set aside for relaxation.

Our weekly fee is inclusive of breakfast, lunch, dinner, 24hr room service, heating, electricity and care services. Additional charges may be made for our hairdressing, newspaper delivery and chiropody services.
