International Short Break Association Conference: Edinburgh, September 2016
The International Short Break Association (ISBA) was established in 1995 and is a world-wide ‘community’ concerned with the effective delivery of short breaks (respite care) services. Every 2 years ISBA hosts a conference to bring countries together to share ideas and experiences. The 10th conference was held here in Scotland, hosted by Shared Care Scotland.
300 delegates from 17 different countries came together at #ISBA10 in Edinburgh to inspire, explore opportunities, challenge one another and strengthen international friendships. It was a hugely diverse gathering, full of joy and laughter – and a few tears…
Don Williamson, Shared Care Scotland’s Chief Executive, summarises the experience of organising the event, “What a privilege and pleasure it was for us at Shared Care to host this 10th ISBA event. We couldn’t be more pleased with the positive feedback from delegates about how inspired they were by the workshops and presenters, and how much fun they had along the way too. Our thanks to all our conference planning team, our sponsors and supporters, and to all those who contributed to the event. Now we must work hard to build on the momentum generated in Edinburgh and keep driving forward to improve short break provision here in Scotland and internationally.”
The next ISBA conference will take place in Iceland on the 9th-11th October 2018.
