I live in Scotlandwell (near Kinross) with my husband and adult disabled son, Archie who is 22. My daughter, Brooke works in the care sector in Nottingham.
After a career of over 30 years in teaching, I took early retirement four years ago to become an unpaid carer for Archie.
Not only do I have personal experience as a carer, but I have supported and advocated for others throughout my professional career. Brooke was a young carer, and I'm particularly passionate about ensuring that they have support in schools and access to meaningful breaks.
When I get a break from caring, I love walking around Loch Leven and on Fife’s beaches. I'm also volunteer for a local anti-poverty charity in Kinross which gives me further insight into challenges faced by families today.
