Moira was formerly head of the Carers Policy unit in the Scottish Government. She was responsible for many aspects of carers policy and delivery including the Carers (Scotland) Act.
Since retiring, she has taken on a number of volunteer roles including, until 2025, volunteer gardener at the VOCAL Carers Hub in Edinburgh. She is also a volunteer simulated patient with nursing students at Napier University.
Moira’s hobbies include gardening, tennis, padel and pickle ball. She likes travel when she can, especially to see her older son in Australia.
