Introduction to Creative Breaks

Creative Breaks 2026–2027 will open for applications on 26 March until 16 April.

Creative Breaks offers 12-month grants for third sector organisations to deliver short breaks projects for carers of adults (aged 21 years and over), and young carers, and the people that they care for.

Funded activities

The Creative Breaks programme funds a wide variety of short breaks activities, including breaks away (i.e. overnight stays and residential breaks), days out, and/or shorter sessions (i.e. regular activities). Activities must be designed to enable unpaid carers to have a life outside or alongside caring, and support their health and wellbeing. Short breaks should also benefit the cared-for person and others (e.g. family members) and help sustain the caring relationship.

Visit the fund timeline for more information on what happens after application submission.

Carer quote

“The group’s activities and days out have been a real highlight. They give me a complete break from my daily routine and a chance to forget about responsibilities for a while and just enjoy myself."
