Full service description:

Shared Lives is a special kind of social care based around sharing home and everyday life.

It’s for people who want to live independently in their community and who have chosen to be supported by a Shared Lives carer to enable them to achieve their goals.

The needs of people in the service can differ and may include:

Dementia
Mental health difficulties
Frailty
Learning disability
Physical and sensory disability
Shared Lives can offer day opportunities, long term and short term placements. It can be a bespoke alternative to day services, supported living or residential care.

It’s all based on shared interests, lifestyles and sense of humour. It feels like an ordinary life – not a service – for someone who needs support and doesn’t feel like a ‘job’ for the Shared Lives care

Price information:

There may be a cost to the Short Break / Respite Service and this will be determined by a financial assessment as with other Short Break / Respite Services.

What is included/not included in the price of the break:

Accommodation and meals will be provided as they would be for other Day and Short Break Services.

Any other information you think people might find helpful:

We prioritise our services to people who are assessed as needing them most, for example because the individual is at risk of moving into care, their health is at risk or their family is under stress.
