Brief description:
Shetland Care Attendant Scheme (SCAS) provides trained Care Attendants to give unpaid carers a break in their own homes. This enables the carer to have some quality time to call their own to use as they wish. Carers who may be absent or living away from the person in need of the care are also offered a service to ease their concern or anxiety because they live elsewhere. This provides a regular opportunity for a carer to take time out from their caring role.

Full service description:
At SCAS our Care Attendant’s provide support in your loved one’s/ dependants own home. This enables you, the unpaid carer, to take a regular break from your caring role and have some quality time of your own.
Our Care Attendants can provide your loved one or dependant with the following support:
-Personal Care: All aspects of washing, dressing, toileting, moving and assisting/ mobilising, helping prepare light meals, snacks, drinks. Help with other tasks of personal daily living that they cannot manage on their own.
-Additional Care Support: Assist and encourage the management of medication or administer where necessary and appropriate, and monitoring health related conditions such as dietary & fluid intake. Help in the use of aids and other personal equipment. Assisting them to pursue leisure and occupational activities and providing social stimulation both within the home and outside.
