This service provides residential short breaks for adults 18+ with a learning disability who reside in the East Dunbartonshire area. It is based in a high specification purpose built house in the village of Twechar in East Dunbartonshire.

How do people access your service:

This service is for adults aged 18 years upwards with a learning disability and/or associated physical disabilities who live within the East Dunbartonshire area.

Type of accommodation:

Fully accessible one and a half storey accommodation. All rooms include en-suite bathroom with wet floor shower. Three bedrooms incorporate moving and assisting aids. A main bathroom with moving and assisting aids, high low bath, closemat toilet and plynth. Lift to upper floor.

Cultural needs catered for:

Healthy home cooked meals are provided to suit all dietary requirements and the service promotes a culture where individuals are treated with respect and dignity at all times. Assistance is provided to attend places of worship and private areas for prayer are available.Twechar

Full service description:

The service can accommodate five people and includes a self-contained flat for people who are working towards more independent living.  The service focuses on the social aspect of short breaks and encourages individuals to become involved in activities within the local and wider community as well as offering a variety of in-house entertainment. Activities are discussed and organised at the beginning of the individuals stay and we strive to meet requests made by each individual.  The service is needs-led and care plans are compiled in conjunction with all relevant support networks to ensure individual needs are met. Services Offered: A safe, relaxing and enjoyable break within a high specification, quality environment A single room with en-suite facilities A named key worker A flexible service offering a variety of breaks which meet the needs of the service user and their family as agreed with the Care Manager A variety of social activities and day opportunities using local city wide resources A person-centred and regularly reviewed care support plan developed with the service user which recognises their rights, needs and choices Trained staff who will support the service user in a competent, professional and flexible manner Support to the service user to encourage them to maintain their current social networks, recreational, educational and/or occupational interest, whilst also facilitating them to expand their capabilities and achievements by accessing new activities The project is inspected by the Care Inspectorate and East Dunbartonshire Council.  Reports are available on request or from the Care Inspectorate website.
