The Lead Officer Sharing Practice Network is for Local Authority and Health Partnership staff with commissioning, planning and service coordinating responsibilities related to unpaid carers and service users – including short break (respite care) provision.
The aim of the Network is to offer a time-protected space to exchange information on the planning and commissioning of short break and respite care provision. Network events are facilitated by Shared Care Scotland and hosted by members. Two network events are arranged per year and separate ‘Think Tank’ workshops are arranged to explore any policy or practice related issues emerging from these events. Currently (December 2017 – June 2018), we have Think Tank looking at the effective development of Short Break Service Statements.

Date of next Network event:
- Our last event was on 4th October 2018 in Dumfries – see below for papers. The date of the next event will be announced in early 2019
- UPDATE FEB 2019: our next piece of work will be a Market Shaping for Short Breaks Think Tank – a time-limited action learning project developed in partnership between Shared Care Scotland, iHUb, Scottish Government and Wren and Greyhound Limited. The Think Tank will bring together a number of short breaks commissioners to explore and develop strategies for shaping markets of short break provision.
