Identifying and supporting unpaid carers across areas of deprivation in West Dunbartonshire

Join us for our November online learning session as we hear from Clare Sweeney, who leads the RISE Project (Resilient, Inspired, Supported and Empowered) at Carers of West Dunbartonshire.

The RISE Project works to identify and support unpaid carers across some of West Dunbartonshire’s most deprived areas, helping those least likely to engage with mainstream services. Clare will share how the project:

  • Maps local communities to understand their strengths and challenges.
  • Builds trust and connection through grassroots engagement.
  • Embeds flexible, responsive support that reflects local need.
  • Tackles barriers such as financial hardship, digital exclusion, social isolation and limited access to employment or education opportunities.

As well as providing advice and information on caring, the RISE Project offers tailored support through local drop-in hubs across West Dunbartonshire, where carers can connect directly with the RISE Project for guidance and practical help.

This session will showcase good practice in engaging with unpaid carers from less heard-from communities, highlighting how sustained community-based approaches can strengthen resilience and inclusion. There will also be time for questions and shared reflection at the end.

This free webinar is open to:

  • Carer support organisations and centre staff
  • Health and social care professionals
  • Community groups and local authorities
  • Anyone interested in inclusive, person-centred short breaks practice
