Neil and Trudy’s story: geometric dome and garden retreat

Neil cares for his wife, Trudy, and together they share a love of gardening. They enjoy spending time outdoors, planning which flowers to grow and visiting garden centres to find new additions for their garden. These simple moments together are incredibly important to them.

Following discussions about taking a break from his caring role, Neil was encouraged to apply for a Time to Live microgrant. His application was successful, and he used the funding to purchase a geometric dome for their garden. For Neil, it was important that any activity or break from caring was something he and Trudy could enjoy together. The geometric dome has created a comfortable outdoor space where they can relax side by side, whatever the weather.

"It's been such a great addition to our garden and, no matter the weather, we can sit outside and enjoy the garden, have a cuppa or just relax."

The dome has provided a peaceful seating area that allows them to make the most of their garden throughout the year. Both Neil and Trudy are delighted with the difference it has made to their daily lives. Neil greatly appreciates the support he received from the carers' centre and the flexibility offered through the Time to Live microgrant. This enabled him to choose something that truly met their needs as a couple.

The geometric dome has become much more than a garden feature: it is a space where Neil and Trudy can continue to enjoy precious time together, relax, and make new memories in the garden they love.
